Week 9..the final tally.

The final night saw a new pb mirror for Adam at 32lb plus a sprinkling of other fish. The total fell just short of the 100 mark but despite constantly changing weather conditions the lads managed to bank a total of 94 carp, 2 sturgeon and a solitary catfish. The carp weights were as follows… 30lb+ – 14 carp, between 25-30lb – 23 carp, between 20-25lb – 24 carp, between 15 – 20lb – 21 carp, between 10-15lb – 11 carp. Top rod for the week was Graham Odiam from Essex who banked a total of 49 carp, 1 sturgeon and a catfish. Prior to arriving at Le Moulin du Mee Graham had voiced his one wish of landing a 30lb + common carp….well he actually managed 3 of them at 34.12, 33.10 and 30.07 as well as mirrors of 34.6, 32.10 and 30.1. Both the biggest mirror and common were new pb’s for Graham. A great result !! Fellow angler Adam Bassett also broke his common and mirror pb’s with a 33.2 common and a 31 mirror amongst his catch of 22 carp. Adams father Ray arrived with a pb of 15lb and well and truly smashed that with chunky 30.2 mirror amongst his catch of 13 carp. John (Shandy) Shand also broke both his pb’s with a cracking 34.0 common and 32.8 mirror along with another 16 carp and a sturgeon. What with constantly changing weather and spawning activity the lads did extremely well to amass such a catch and at times had to work hard for results. With 15 acres at their disposal fortunately they had plenty of options and all tried different swims at time during their stay. All in all a great weeks fishing. Most succesful bait was our own crab followed by our maple fudge.

A nice thought Tim but your record of breaking things leaves me a bit concerned as to what the outcome might be !!! Probably 40 when you catch it and a high double next year !!! lol

Thats a fantastic return for the week, top class angling guys well done. Moulin Du Mee at it’s best and a rapidly growing reputation to boot. Brilliant result.

Thanks Chris – we certainly enjoyed our week, and we will definitely be back next year.

Jim – Will drop you a seperate email, but I did just want to say on here that Moulin du Mee turned out better for us that we could ever have imagined. The fishing was first class, certainly not easy but very rewarding when you get it right and work at it. And the carp are stunning – in excellent condition, and incredibly strong fighters.. we all hooked and landed fish after long battles which we thought would be be a lot heavier than they turned out to be (I’m going to get my scales checked!!). Furthermore, and also important to us, the setting is beautiful. Add in the hospitality, excellent food (thankyou Lottie!), and the hard work you and Jimmy put in to make our stay successful and enjoyable, and it all adds up to a fantastic week. After 3 years of trying different venues in France, we feel we’ve found the perfect place for us.. we’re looking forward to next year already!
