Just call me Noah !!!

I now can appreciate the problems that Noah faced in biblical times. Rain, rain and then heavy rain have been the constant for the week just concluded with the lakes rising like never before and the anglers flooded off on Friday night. All swims were under water, the road was a river and the shower block and our cottage were flooded. It has been a very difficult time for us and I am grateful that the leaving lads and the new party of anglers were so understanding of our difficulties. As I write the lads are fishing and all swims are now above the water with levels dropping by the hour. Poppy’s is almost back to normal and the main lake is only a few inches above our usual spring level so all is now getting back to some sense of normality.

On the fishing front the anglers on last week suffered from rapidly dropping temperatures and constant rain which appears to have really unsettled the carp. The four lads all caught and there were 5 x 50lb+ in the total catch of only about 10 carp. I am not certain of exact numbers as the lads had to leave in a bit of a hurry !!! Poppy’s was left angler free for the week so that Jimmy could get some work done around the lake including building a new stalking swim. The new swim looked great however the flood has caused some issues with its integrity so Jimmy will be back over there as soon as conditions are suitable.

The start of the new week was curtailed until Sunday morning due to the swims all being under water. Chocolate coloured water doesn’t provide the best of fishing conditions although, that said, Liam has already banked a 50 and fish are beginning to show. I imagine that the week will kick off now that the water levels are settling down and I have a feeling that the final tally will be pretty good. Time will tell.
