The last carp.

As evening drew in once again young jaimie had a screaming run and after a good fight banked another stunning mirror at 25.5lb’s. A great end to the week for the young fellah !! It was to be the last fish of the week as the lads needed some decent sleep to ready them for the journey home.

In the worst week we have experienced for during the fishing season the lads all finished with some nice fish. During the rain and wind, frost and odd flash of sunshine it seemed that the fish had all decided to just sleep away the cold conditions and wait for fairer weather before starting to move. That, together with half the anglers having to leave midway through the week due to Lee’s unfortunate illness meant that the week looked to be heading for a disappointing finish. In fact, despite the conditions a good few nice fish were banked including new pb’s for both Jamie’s with big Jamie breaking both his mirror and common pb withing hours of each other. When Jamie jnr. eventually banked his 27lb pb there were a few tears almost shed (grandad in particular was very moist eyed) as the lad had worked and worked despite the cold and wet and had suffered having to watch everyone catch decent fish whilst he just toiled away in hope. All credit to young Jamie for really earning his eventual rewards.

Considering that this week has seen the worst fishing conditions we have ever experienced at Le Moulin du Mee the catch included some very nice fish. The list is below.

34.10, 34, 32, 32, 29.5, 29, 27, 26, 25.5, 25, 22.5, 21, 21, 19.5,17.5,17,16,15.5,15.

Well done lads, may your next visit be blessed with sunshine and warmth !!!

All at Le Moulin De Mee
I would like to thank you very much for all the help & support you have shown to my son Jamie Jnr. He has had a wonderful time and said it was his best holiday ever. He is already planning to return next year with uncle Scotty and asked me to start saving!!! He is even willing to give up a skiing trip!! Who knows maybe he’ll drag mum next time.
I look forward to seeing him this evening on his return from the long journey. A big thanks for all the kindness. Claire

Thank you Claire. Young Jamie was a joy to have around and we look forward to seeing him again next year (or even later this year as Scottie is talking about a return in the school holidays !! SSShhh don’t mention it though). He really is a lovely lad and as keen as mustard when it comes to his fishing. Hopefully he will have a good journey home and will regale you with all the tales of ‘the one that got away’ !! And by the way…mums are always welcome and can enjoy visits to the markets, etc with Lottie. We have several wives/mums visit us each year and they always return. But better make sure it is when the sun is shining as you certainly would not have enjoyed the past week.
Regards, Jim, Lottie, Jimmy and the Sophie’s (2).

Nice to see the lads all managed a decent fish or two despite the awful weather jim ,seems that mark and myself were very fortunate with our week ,surly things have to pick up soon ,I think when they do someone is in for a real bonanza as the fish will have a bit of catching up to do before spawning .

Hi Adrian and yes, you did enjoy rather better conditions however, its fair to say that although you finished with a pretty impressive catch it was never easy. I felt you fished really well and got the best out of the conditions you were served. The lads this week certainly experienced the worst that french spring weather has to offer but each of them still managed to catch a quality carp or two.

Hi Tony, and I hope you soon return to full fitness. You certainly will need to be in good shape to cope with our hard fighting carp !!! Its good that you are enjoying our day to day reports on the blog and hopefully we will have some bumper catches to report shortly. The weather is set to improve midweek so with warmer water the carp should really start to feed.

Good luck with sorting out the back problem !!! OOuuuuch !!
