The weather today was bright and sunny with a definate feel of spring unless you were in the northerly breeze. The night had proven fishless with, once again, a good few runs amounting to either nothing at all or a lightly hooked fish that came adrift after a brief struggle but with a bit of warmth in the air everyone was in good spirits for the day ahead. Most of the lads decided to spend the day on Poplars, our stock lake where they had a great time catching small carp on light tackle. The intention was to just spend a couple of hours up there but such was the fun had that they eventually stayed all day. Bill opted to stay on the main lake and was rewarded by a new pb of 27lb backed up by another fine 22.5 lb mirror. Unfortunately Lee was feeling rather unwell and spent the day resting up. It was quite worrying as he wrapped himself up in warm clothes and dozed in his sleeping bag without being aware of just how hot it was in there. The result was a nasty case of heat exhaustion and we are just hoping a good nights sleep will see him fighting fit in the morning.
At dinner we had a birthday to celebrate with young Joe Palmer achieving the ripe old age of 11yrs. Sophie baked a birthday cake and Joe had to endure a round of ‘Happy Birthday’ from the toneless crew round the table. Lets hope tomorrow see’s the lad bank a nice lump or two as well.
The weather is set to turn milder and wetter (if thats possible) for the next few days and sunny thereafter so things could start to take a turn for the better. Lets hope so.

Glad to see the slow sport has not dampened the lads spirits, shame Lee was feeling unwell and congratulations to the lad on his Birthday.
The weather is set to turn fair middle of next week with some nice early 20s temperatures,so fingers crossed the worst of the weather is over and Spring will finally kick in.

4 days of rain forecast and thereafter getting warmer……..my only worry is that Calamity Tim may break the weather !!!!!

Your worries are well founded Jim,you know what Tims reputation is. If I were you mate I’d ban him from the venue so he can’t spoil it for the other anglers and I think you have already had your fair share of bad weather.

Whats happened over the last couple of days then Jim?,it seems very quiet mate. Is it that you are all panicking about the impending arrival of the ‘Merchant Of Doom’, The Crown Prince of Calamity’ Mr Buckett.
