An early start.

After a quiet night with just a couple of doubles this morning saw Adrian catch a nice 24lb 12 oz mirror and a few minutes ago a new pb of a mirror weighing 36lb 14oz (Pictured below).

The first 24hrs.

Well the lads have had a pretty good start to their week with the first 24 hrs producing a good few fish. Top of the list is a new pb for Adrian at 31lb (mirror) closely followed by a 28.6lbs, 27.8lbs, 25.8lbs (new pb for Mark),24.7lbs, 22.8lbs, 22.9lbs, 22.8lbs, 20.9lbs, 20,7lbs. These were backed up…

First of the season.

Adrian with his first le Moulin du Mee carp. It was a stunning 28.6lbs mirror and caught before he had even got all his rods out. The start of a good week I think !!!

Morning of the new season.

The new season is here and for once the day has dawned bright and sunny. A wonderful surprise after a week of heavy rain. Our 2 anglers, Mark and Adrian are setting up as I write and after seeing several carp moving expectations are high of a fish or two before dark. Watch this space…

Eve of the start.

Tomorrow we greet our first 2 anglers of the 2008 season. As I write this post it is raining hard, as it has done for most of this week. The lake is at maximum level, in fact a bit more than that and the swim ‘deliverance’ is close to being under water. The past few…

Still grafting !!

Jimmy and I have been busy today hardcoring pathways through the boggy bits that the recent rains have caused. Quite pleasant work in the sunshine although the northerly wind certainly diminishes the pleasure somewhat. Still plenty of tidying up to be done before next saturday with so much timber lying around and so many boggy…

Cold and wet !!

Its sunny but very cold (4c) at the moment and after a few days of heavy rain the lake surroundings are a bit claggy to say the least. The leaves have yet to appear on most of the tree’s and the wild grasses bordering the lakeside are only just starting to show through. The swallows…

Countdown to the seasons opening.

Just over a week until we greet our first visitors and the weather is still more like February than March. Sunny days chilled by a biting northerly wind see’s us working round the lake in winterwear in the wind and shirtsleeves where the sun shines and the wind cannot reach. The swallows arrived a week…

The bad weather continues !!

Its such a shame that after such a lovely february, when all seemed set for an early spring, that the cold north wind should decide to return and dash our hopes. The past few days has seen high winds, rain as well as still misty days, with temperatures not even reaching double figures. Today it…

What awful weather !!!

It seems that the storms that have been battering south west Britain have paid us a visit. Sunday night was very windy and wet and monday dawned with driving rain and gale force winds battering the millhouse. When we braved the conditions and took a walk round the lake we were sad to find a…
