A grand finale to Jan and Moniques week.
Jan and Monique have had a cracking week with a total of 60 fish between them. Their last night saw a good few additions to the catch with a new lake record catfish to Jan at 62lb. At about midnight Jan hooked into the cat and had an epic fight that lasted over half and hour. At times it stripped line off his reel at an alarming rate but eventually it was netted only for them to realise their scales could not cope. Monique roused me from bed and the trusty old Reubens gave the reading of a little over 62′lbs. A great end to a great day for Jan as a little earlier he had banked yet another 35lb + carp, this time a stunning common bringing the pairs tally of 30’s to 8 with 4 of those being over 35lb. Succesful method was squid and octopus home made boilies over a big helping of our pellet and besides the 60 fish banked their were a great many lost due to hook pulls so the total could have been even higher with a little luck.
Final tally was 8 x 30’s with 4 over 35lb, a further 18 x 20+ carp and 29 doubles, mostly upper doubles. In addition they have 3 sturgeon and 2 cats including the new lake record at 62lb.
All in all a great week considering the very hot weather, well done Jan and Monique.

Well it didn’t take long for my question about the big cats to be answered! 62lbs is a lump! And those commons are all looking in fantastic condition too Jim – a brilliant week for the 2 lucky anglers.
